MOONJAR - GWITHIAN III
ø 13 cm belly - 5 cm - rim -4 cm - foot
H - 14cm
materials · Blended crank and earthenware body. The outer surface is unglazed but decorated with porcelain and wild slip harvested from the coastline in Cornwall. Interior is fully glazed.
form · Traditional jar, loosely inspired by Korean moon jars. A top heavy and wide bellied form with and elegant turned base, seemingly defying gravity. The combination of slips creates a texture and appearance of craggy iron rich rock formations, and features hand carved details, an observation of human interaction with the landscape, i.e footprints left in the sand or warn away gathering spots along the path
details · Some of the slips in combination look like they are crumbling, this is intentional as is true to the nature of the surface that inspired the piece. The piece will not deteriorate if handled with care.
